Lime Creek Road
Last Wednesday, I ran up Lime Creek Road with Brett from here at Cascade Village.
This morning, I ran up Lime Creek by myself, and kept going on past that point. I went out to the 7 mile point and turned around, to give myself 14 miles.
The views were nice -

That's Potato Hill in the foreground, Engineer Mountain well behind.
Fourteen miles on a weekday morning is a lot. It doesn't leave a lot in the tank, so I have to drink a RockStar or Monster when I get finished just to be able to type sensibly. But there won't be many mornings when I'll be running that many miles - probably only three more, that being this Thursday, and the Tuesday/Thursday in two weeks (my next long week).
And my Thursday 14 won't be up and over a pass - and back again - on a dirt road where I have to pick my feet up high to keep from crashing. To paraphrase Ron Trujillo, if you run on Lime Creek Road, you'll learn to pick your feet up, or you will die. Interestingly enough, around about mile 12, I managed to roll my ankle so severely that I screamed in pain and scared away all of the bears. However, I have learned that, when I roll my ankle, then just keep running, or the ankle will swell up - so I finished the run with no ill effects, and the ankle has felt fine all day.
No, my Thursday 14 is currently planned to be on Hiway 550, from here to Electra Lake Road and back - just a few hundred feet of elevation gain/loss, and running on pavement.
Come Saturday's long run, however, Church Is Out. Maybe Stony Pass, maybe Kendall Mountain in Silverton. There's a lot of training to do before Imogene.
