River Slog
As I was slogging north along the San Antonio River this morning, I spied this fellow standing on a concrete pier:

When I came back down the trail, a couple of hours later, he was still standing in the same place. They can say "bird-brained" all they like, but as far as I can tell, he's a lot brighter than I am.
It was HUMID - about as humid as it can be without creating an epidemic of deaths by drowning. I used to live in Alabama, and as I was running along, it occurred to me - I used to run in THIS? ("Yes", I answered myself, "and, when I was running in these conditions, I was a lot faster than I am now")
It was not a fun run at all - for one thing, my GPS didn't seem to be registering correctly. Possibly because of the buildings and trees - I ran the .75 mile Nature loop at Brackenridge Park three times, and my GPS kept telling me that it was .63 miles.
So eventually I gave up and just decided to run by time, and call it 11 minute pace - sounds dang slow, but I FELT slow. I was slogging.
After the run, Ethel and I went someplace - a mission or something, where they had a battle, but I've forgotten what it was - and then we went to Mi Tierra (when you say that, say it as one word, like "Meaty Era", and roll those Rs like your tongue is attached to a washboard) for lunch. That is a great restaurant, in every way - great food, history, reasonable prices, and great atmosphere - although the atmosphere was full of thin metallic flags:

Yes, it really looked like that. Obviously this lady didn't care for the meal, but we thought it was great.
Now Ethel's napping, and I'm considering it. I had hoped to log in to work to see if I could get something done - come to think of it, I will do that. Nothing will help me get sleepy more quickly than trying to start work at 4 in the afternoon :)

I have really enjoyed both the pictures attached with this post. What I liked most in it is the second one in which is of an old lady who didn’t care for her meal. What is really interesting in it is the expression of her face that she is angry with the food. Ha-Ha. The picture of the bird standing on the concrete pier in the middle of a pond is also nice. I really enjoyed reading the post especially about your experience at the restaurant Mi Tierra.
