Yakity Yak

Well, it was a busy weekend, and it left me exhausted.

First off, on Friday evening, we headed  down to Durango - I had to get my neck cracked, and we made a meeting. We also went by a used book store, where I bought a bunch of paperbacks and two old CD favorites of mine (which I hadn't seen in years).

Then we had dinner at the Himalayan Kitchen, where I ordered Yak Mo-Mo dumplings.

They were quite good, although maybe not the most filling thing in the world. No, Yak does NOT taste like chicken, although I couldn't tell you what it does taste like, as this yak had spices in it.

Got up on Saturday morning and ran long (10 miles, which isn't actually a long run, but under these conditions it's long enough) and then skiied bumps, hard - spring bumps. Wonderful bumps. The kind of bumps that you just want to keep skiing all day. Then we drove to Silverton for a meeting (which didn't take place - nobody was there) - on the way back home, I took this panoramic of the view from Molas Pass with my phone:

Sunday morning I woke up really, really tired, and decide that I might not do my 8 miles at pace that I had planned; instead, I'd do two miles, and then see how I felt - if I felt like it, I'd quit. If not, I'd finish the run. So I did just that, and finished, although I didn't have much in the tank when I got through; it took me a long time to do my stretching.

Then I headed back to the condo, as Ethel had declared Sunday a No Skiing Day - instead, we were going to drive up to Silverton and Ouray and do some sightseeing. But that wasn't all - we were also going to stop at one of the passes, and take Maia snowshoeing.

Snowshoeing at 11000+ feet is NOT the same as taking a day off, in case you were wondering - especially when one has already run that day.

So now I'm whupped. I was supposed to run 3 miles today, but decided against it. In fact, I have declared this to be a Rest Week - something between 25 and 30 miles, and that's all (that means that I want to run at least 25 miles, but won't go over 30). This being our last week up here at the condo, it's probably a good time to dial things back to transition back to sea level next week.

And there are no restaurants in New River, that sell yak.
