No Objects In Toilet
Here's one I saw the other day - a sign above a toilet that says "No Objects In Toilet":
Okay, fine. I won't leave these objects in your toilet.
Now, JUST WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO WITH THEM?
That's a terrible thought.
I suppose that it's reasonable, though, given the way that our society is heading - I mean, if you're walking your dog through the park, and the dog leaves a "dividend", you're supposed to pick it up with a little scooper and put it in a bag and carry it home. Obviously, we need to do the same thing in public restrooms.
One wonders if the same thing will soon apply to urinals?....then I'd be walking around with a bag AND a bottle.
It seems like every time Andrea and I go for a walk in our neighborhood, we encounter several of our neighbors out walking their dogs. It can be very disconcerting to be standing in the street, engaged in conversation, with a person who is holding a bag of dog poop in his or her hand. We find ourselves trying to pretend they're NOT holding a bag of poop, and we invariably end the conversation prematurely when our efforts to ignore the poop fail. Now that we have our own dog, we've developed a plan to avoid having to meet our neighbors in the street while holding dog poop in OUR hands. We've bought a backpack for our new puppy, and when he's old enough to go for walks, we'll have him carry the scooper and the bagged poop in his pack. Voila! Problem solved! We're hoping that having to carry his own poop will provide enough of a disincentive to keep him from pooping in the first place, and that he'll just hold it in until he gets home.

Wow - just when I think I may die due to lack of civilization here in VT (not a Starbucks within a half hour drive) someone posts something like this that makes me VERY glad that I can visit civilization and come home - HA! :) We can leave our objects as we need in the toilet and we still pick up the neighbors dog objects with a shovel from our yard and toss them in the woods - I believe it was Austin where I actually saw dog baggie dispensers along the lovely river walk!

Maggie - You typed "dog baggie" but I read "doggie bag"; and I was thinking that "I remember when a doggie bag as something you brought home from the restaurant"
Vivilization is a word that comes from the same root as "city" - be glad you're not in civilization. I'm about to go sit in traiffic in civilization.
