Redneck Paint Mixer
Silas was using the jackhammer to dig holes for ocotillo.
Ethel had been taping the parlor, getting ready to paint.
Suddenly, Ethel realized that her fancy Ralph Lauren suede paint (in the popular Mustard Vomit shade) had been sitting for months, and needed to be remixed and reshaken.
When necessity meets opportunity, in the presence of genius, and is given an ample supply of duct tape - miracles can happen.
When Ethel first said "Can I duct tape my paint can to your jackhammer?" I thought that she was kidding. It sounded too much like "You got your chocolate in my peanut butter!"
Then, when she persisted, I assumed that she was taking advantage of an interesting idea, in order to get a photo that would most definitely wind up on Fat Charlies Diary (celebs and moguls from all walks of life vie for the opportunity to get posted here, you know).
But, when, after the picture was taken, I found out that she really wanted to turn the thing on and let it run I knew that she had crossed over to the Dark Side. I could only foresee one pair of outcomes from such an attempt - the operator and jackhammer would be drenched in (unmixed) Mustard Vomit suede paint, and I would have to go to Home Depot to buy another gallon.
Imagine my surprise when it worked.
Not only did the duct tape hold the gallon can on top of the jackhammer (with only mild balancing by the operator) - it actually mixed the paint as well as it would have been mixed by the paint department at Lowes, and without having to drive there or wait in line.
Ethel called it a Redneck Paint Mixer- Silas said that, no, it wasn't Redneck, it was Ghetto. (I'm unable to determine how, exactly, one would choose which category to file this under, and I don't want to know).
Now I'm thinking about other applications for the jackhammer - such as Jackhammer Massage (duct tape the jackhammer to my hamstrings) or Jackhammer Hair Restorer (duct tape it to my head) or Jackhammer Cellulite Removal (duct tape it to my rear end).
