I've Been Unbusy

Well, it's been over a week since I've added an entry to Fat Charlie's Diary.

It's quite simple, really - I've been unbusy.

When I'm busy, I'm usually sitting at a keyboard, which means that at some point I find myself at the keyboard but not completely busy, so I'm able to add entries in piecemeal fashion.

But when I'm unbusy, I'm not at a keyboard at all, and it's difficult for me to stop being unbusy long enough long enough to get busy at the keyboard.

But just because I've been unbusy, you can't assume that I haven't been doing anything. Christmas is an unbusy time when there is still a lot to do, and I've been doing important things - such as hanging Christmas stockings:

....putting together the new house banner (and posting it out front in two feet of concrete):

...figuring out where to hang the Alabama game program from 1958 (when they had some brand-new coach - Paul somebody...):

....unwrapping DVDs (you know how much tape they put on these things? It takes forever to get them unwrapped):

...and helping Chef Ethel unwrap all of her new Calphalon cookware and cookie sheets (and, of course, the obligatory chef's hat):

After all that, let's face it - its naptime -

Most days have involved naptime at some point, but usually I get to nap by myself -I don't have a helper like this :)

So, you see, being unbusy can be completely exhausting, especially if you're an old man (49 & 22/23rds years old) who's lived an evil life and having to pay for your sins with poor health and no gumption.

I'm on vacation this week, as well, so I'll probably stay unbusy until next Monday or so, but I suspect that I might take time to update this blog with news of other events - for instance, today we aren't going sailing. Now, Ethel SAYS that we're going sailing, and the weather is perfect and gorgeous, and Silas is going to be working from 11 AM until 6 PM, so there's no reason in the world why Ethel and I can't go sailing - so it's a pretty good bet that we'll never make it out of the driveway.

But at least I'll get a nap :)
