Golden Flake

Ethel finished the painting of the guest bathroom yesterday (it being Father's Day, I was napping a lot).

And now, with this gift of Golden Flack potato chips sent by my brother Jerry back in Alabama, the Bama Bath has been put back together.(If you don't know what Golden Flake potato chips have to do with Alabama Football, then you can either fuhgeddabouddit [recommended] or do some Googling :)

I can't show you pictures of the Bama Bath yet - there's touch-up painting to be done, and decals and stencils to add. However, I can tell you that it is CRIMSON and WHITE - and the crimson is shriekingly CRIMSON, and the white is seriously WHITE.

The Bear Bryant shrine is reconstructed, and Ethel has added a crimson Bama Bag beside the toilet to hold (what else?) toilet paper - Roll, Tide :)

We still have to add a big script A above the john, and a 40" Big Al on the biggest wall - I'm considering adding "Comes The Tide" above the mirror (although I won't be paying that price) and then the Bama Bath will be rechristened the Pachyderm Powder Room.

But I'm not a real fan - this guy here is a real fan. I wish that I had his creativity and resources.

But, of course, if you were actually raised in Alabama, the connection is so implicit that one does not give it a second thought - until someone points out that there may actually be those who would not get the connection. :-)

It is an honor and a privilege to be even a small part of this effort to send the BAMA message to the great unwashed in the hinterlands.

Ok - so Golden Flake to you is like the Swiss at Wallowa Lake to me...you'd just have to know. Or again, 'google'. :)
