Another 'A' In Paradise

In case you're wondering, this is the 'Script A', the current logo of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide.

(I think it might also be the logo of the University of Alabama itself, but that institution, whilst steeped in tradition and respected in the hallowed halls of Academe, doesn't really matter now, does it? :)

It's a lovely day in unutterably gorgeous Anthem. I went to the gym this morning, then to the office, then to a 10:00 AM OA meeting, then this afternoon drove home to finish up my workday in my home office, with a view of Daisy Mountain, iTunes blasting out of the speakers, and the cool desert breeze coming in the window.

These are the primetime days in Arizona - these last days of spring, sniffing the air and enjoying the sunshine, while knowing that IT is coming at us like a freight train, and that IT will be here for a good, solid four months with some days of pain spread around the edges. It's necessary - we wouldn't have this desert without those months - but that doesn't make it any more pleasant (although it does make it more endurable).

And the last month or so of the bad heat also is the first month of fudemabawl season, that wonderful time of year when Ethel makes chili and pies with the Script 'A' inscribed in the crust, and we watch fuhdemabawl and - well, and that's about it :)

Then, after a month or so of hiding inside and watching football, we'll be able to go back outside with impunity -
just like people back on Earth. And then primetime starts all over again.

It's the necessary cycle of living in Arizona, and - as long as I can remember what I'm alive FOR - it's a pretty good way to live.
